Hannah Roberts

Hannah Roberts is a British cellist and educator who serves as Jacqueline du Pré Professor of Cello at the Royal Academy of Music, Professor of Cello at the Royal Northern College of Music, visiting tutor at the University of Oxford, and Principal Cellist of Manchester Camerata. She studied with Susannah Roberts, William Pleeth, and Ralph Kirshbaum, drawing on both the British cello tradition and a broad international musical outlook. Her distinctions include prizes and awards connected with the Shell LSO Competition, BBC Young Musician, the Jacqueline du Pré Memorial Award, and the Pierre Fournier Award. As a soloist she has performed with the London Mozart Players, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, and Hallé, while also broadcasting for the BBC, recording for major labels, and appearing at international festivals. Her former students include internationally active musicians such as Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Abel Selaocoe, and her contribution to teaching has been recognised with the honorary distinctions HonRAM and FRNCM.
