László Fenyő is a Hungarian cellist internationally recognised for his powerful musical personality, refined sound and deep command of the cello repertoire. Born in 1975 into a musical family, he came to wide international attention after winning the 2004 International Pablo Casals Competition in Kronberg, Germany. Since then, he has been regarded as one of the prominent cellists of his generation. Fenyő has performed widely as a soloist with orchestras and as a chamber musician, appearing in major concert halls and festivals throughout Europe and beyond. His repertoire ranges from Bach and the classical canon to Romantic concertos and twentieth-century works. He is also known for his long orchestral experience: he served as principal cellist of the Philharmonia Hungarica and later of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he held the position for more than a decade. In addition to his performing career, Fenyő is an influential teacher. He has given masterclasses internationally and has taught at major German institutions. Since 2012 he has been Professor of Cello at the University of Music Karlsruhe. His teaching reflects his broad experience as soloist, orchestral leader and chamber musician, and he is highly valued by advanced students for his direct musical insight and artistic clarity.
